da intro says-At the beautiful ANA Intercontinental Tokyo, which HIGHLY recommend for accommodation and food, there is a very upmarket patisserie with very pricey cakes and pastries, however I just had to try one.. This here is a layered strawberry & custard cake with a sugary & crispy divider in between each layer (similar to a brandy snap), garnished with a strawberry, raspberry, blueberries and finally sprinkled with 24 karat gold leaf.. These were prepared by a lady with a very steady hand and a nice set of chopsticks to lay all the fruit down. Not a single bit of custard touched the perspex box - it was perfect..Don't ask how much it was - you wouldn't believe me if I told you (bear in mind a rockmelon in Japan is around $150.00 Australian dollars!)... however it was worth every cent..

Though I think they call 'em "parfaits," not "sundaes," in Japan. It has puff pastry, a brownie, ice gream, chocolate, hot fudge, and much more. This was at Denny's, which is a very different restaurant in Japan. You can't buy any dessert this excessive at an American Denny's..

Yes, it's weird that the pastry shop has the same name as the pens. But the chesnut goodies were adorable..
